Guests and their puppy companions checked in on Hangar 21 South’s side patio for the Guide Dogs of America Illuminations Fundraising Gala where they were greeted with tray passed Filet and Wild Mushroom Wellingtons, Fig, Goat Cheese and Mascarpone Tarts, and Caprese Skewers. Once checked in, attendees rounded the corner onto the tarmac where a Poke Station awaited them as another delicious food option. To wash it all down, beer, wine, and Negroni and French 75 signature cocktails were shaken, stirred, and poured at the bar. A black and white lounge sat in the middle of the outdoor space and black linen draped tables surrounded it. Everyone mixed and mingled, and some more adventurous gala-goers enjoyed short flights over Orange County touching down just in time for the main event.
Inside the hangar, tables were topped with fresh floral arrangements, printed menu cards, and black blindfolds. A warm welcome was shared as everyone took their seats. The first course of our dual entrée plated meal, Ensalada Las Mesas, was served. Guests were encouraged to wear blindfolds during dinner to experience what is like being vision impaired with the guide dogs. Cabernet Braised Short Ribs and Sonoma Chicken with Roasted Broccolini and Parmesan Polenta was served next. The dinner menu was selected with the help of our event specialist, Lauren. Lastly, Chocolate Raspberry Decadence Cakes and Vegan Chocolate Berry Bowls ended the meal service on a sweet note. The evening ended with plenty of accolades and lively music.
